Medical Device Research to Detect Blood Flow
Ideatech is working on a microphone assembly that listens to the blood flow in the arteries that supply blood from the heart through the neck to the brain. This sensitive microphone is placed on the carotid artery. At present in clinics under supervision, Doppler ultrasound is used to listen to the blood flow.
Absence or faintness of these sounds indicates an obstruction to the blood flow. This kind of blood flow study is one of the methods to prevent the stroke to happen in future. Ideatech would like to bring the microphone technology to be used by anyone, particularly at home.
